Education

Squares9Education is at the core of all that CHO do. In order to ensure that projects are sustainable, long lasting and effective, the people at the center of these projects need to be educated in a variety of basic subjects.

CHO runs three key education programs, based upon the needs of the local community:

Primary Health Care

Improving health in local communities through education on a variety of topics including nutrition, basic hygiene, HIV prevention and care for those suffering from HIV/AIDS.

‘School on a Mat’ (Non-formal Education)

Providing basic education for children within communities, with specific emphasis on reading, writing, basic mathematics and life skills. This project occurs very informally as volunteers travel to different villages and conduct school ‘on a mat’ in a communal area. The hope is that children will then have the basic education that they need in order to be accepted into a public school.

Anti-Human Trafficking and Drug Awareness

Raising awareness of human trafficking thereby teaching communities to identify and prevent it. CHO teach volunteers to run these awareness workshops, as well as classes explaining the risks of illegal drug use.
